Stephen Zunes on Mearsheimer & Walt

As a follow-up to my post on Some Rebuttals to Mearsheimer & Walt's "Israel Lobby" ...
Richard Kuper reminded me of a relevant piece by Stephen Zunes (who happens to be quite critical of both Israeli and US policies, including the 2003 Iraq war). The article in question actually appeared in January 2006, several months before Mearsheimer & Walt's paper. But, in effect, it powerfully criticizes some key elements of their argument (since Mearsheimer & Walt are mostly just recycling earlier claims that other have made). So while this piece does not precisely fit into the list of rebuttals I've assembled, it nevertheless deserves to be mentioned in this connection:
